I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for years. For just about as long as I’ve been in the Salesforce ecosystem, I’ve been wanting to create a blog to share tips and tricks to make life as a Salesforce professional a little easier and help us accomplish our tasks with a bit of fun. For about the same amount of time, I’ve been singing the praises of the Salesforce Inspector browser extension, and finding new things that I could do with it to make my admin life easier.
So it was with great pleasure that earlier this year, I learned about a new fork of Salesforce Inspector, named Salesforce Inspector Reloaded, released by Thomas Prouvot, an architect at Salesforce. He, along with a team of other contributors, built a new version that was faithful to the initial concepts and opensource nature of Salesforce Inspector, while both continually adding new and refining existing features.
A few months back, my local Madison & Milwaukee Wisconsin Salesforce User Group asked me if I had anything that I would like to present on, and the fact that there was a new version of Salesforce Inspector, along with the fact that I am constantly finding new things I can do in Inspector, made the topic seem like a no-brainer.
I learned so much during the researching for this presentation! I started off thinking that I knew about 75% of Inspector. Then two weeks later, when I was ready to deliver my presentation, I felt like I had doubled my knowledge and still knew maybe 75% of Inspector. It is a powerful tool!
This is a long presentation at 70+ minutes. There is a lot of content covered, including an intro tutorial to SOQL. But, for as much as was covered, there was still much more that I had to leave out for time’s sake. If I missed your favorite trick, please, mention it in the comments.
Finally, this was my first public speaking event and there was a lot of content to cover. Thank you for your patience with any nerves, minor misspeaking or mistakes made along the way.
Bonus: Here is a Google Doc of helpful articles about using Salesforce Inspector Reloaded and how to use SOQL and SOSL effectively, as well as some other resources you may find to make your admin life a bit easier.
